The default desktop environment of Linux
Mint, Cinnamon, has generated rave reviews from Gnome lovers. It is
based on Gnome shell and provides some features of Gnome Classic as
well. If you are an avid Ubuntu lover then you don’t need to switch to
Linux Mint just for trying this beautiful desktop environment. We will
see in this post how to install Cinnamon in Ubuntu 12.04.
Install Cinnamon in Ubuntu 12.04:
You need to add a PPA to your software
sources in order to install Cinnamon in Ubuntu 12.04. And afterwards you
can use the regular method. Open your terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and type
the following commands one-by-one:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gwendal-lebihan-dev/cinnamon-stable sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install cinnamon
You can choose the desired desktop environment at log in.
Enjoy Cinnamon. Cheers
